CBWB x Love Thy Brother .. w.i.p it

So if anyone’s noticed this blog is kinda my baby.. and I can’t lie.. I’ve BEEN falling off with the updates, but so life goes.
Since the craziness of MTL, WB has been laying low.. writing and recording in preparation for #2 (release date still undecided), and lemme tell you people… the sound is still rugged but on a whole new level.
WB has been working closely with the dj duo, Love Thy Brother (yes.. they are brothers :D) out of the Saintwoods camp in MTL. We’re droppin a little taster soon time so keep your ears open for the evolution of the Wra-est Beanz.

In anticipation

So i’m sitting here.. in 90’s sexy new crib on the St-Laurent strip in my FAVE city (MTL), simply waiting in anticipation for our show tomorrow! The likes of Charlie Murphy, Jonezy Jay, Guapo with your’s truly, WB, headlining at 3 Minot, Sept 16, 2010!!!

For those of you who don’t know, Mr. 90, of the crew, just took over the MTL branch of the infamous monthly hip hop party DROPPIN’ KNOWLEDGE. Forecast is calling for some ridiculous performances and simply good times!!  If you are in Montreal tomorrow this is THE party to be at! 5 dollars at the door.

I hope I see all my Frenchies and English-speaking supporters tomorrow!

And for those of you who can’t make it… Keep posted for updates, pictures and exclusive info!!!!

The Faces.. The Vibes.. Captured!

Haha.. I know you like that intriging title… Miss Cici here to update all you beautiful people on what we’ve been up to these days…

Our good friend Jake Bluez teamed up with WraBeanZ’s Beanz and 1990 (formally know as Roly Wra) to produce the first single off “Make The Most Of It” of his upcoming mixtape Last Place Trophy. Check out the video filmed and produced by Ronnice! Check it out on YouTube.

We also did a Queen West photoshoot with a new friend, Leigh (check her out here). Our main objective was to capture the group dynamic and to show the world who we are as individuals, friends and musicians.. The facebook album can be found here..

As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, the guys and I are working on EP numba 2 and are very excited about the evolution of our music. Look out for dirty bass and even hints of electro! mmm fun times! If there are any talented producers out there who like what we are about and want to make some magic, give us a shout!

Aloe Blacc, Dub Step & the Rain .. by Cici Bow

After a cramped, joke-filled, 6.5 hour bus ride, Eli and I landed (rolled?) into the beautiful city of Montreal on Wednesday (Jun 23, 2010) , to find Rolz (now 1990) and Max Milla waiting for us.

After settling in, going over our set list and of course, making a much needed beer run (way too many adventures in that little 5 hour stretch to explain), we set off down Clark to Le Belmont. When we got there, the place had yet to fill up but WB was amped!!

When the time came to rock the stage, I was surprisingly calm. I guess having the guys beside me helped to take the edge off, plus the audience was amazing. We had one of our best sets yet and had most definitely warmed the people up for what was to come. There was a whole new energy in the room.

10 minutes later, Aloe Blacc took the stage backed by a three-piece band (guitar, bass and drums) and really put on a unique show. His rendition of Micheal’s “Billie Jean” had me close to tears and his desire to bring awareness to the world about things such as poverty and politics was truly inspiring. An encore was inevitable, but even that was done in his own special way, as he asked the audience to sing him a song while he spoke with the band… Of course yours truly took over and quickly got the whole place singing “You Are My Sunshine” 🙂 It was AWESOME.

After the show, Beanz, Roly and I were so high on life, and so motivated to make even more happen for WB.. and on that high we ran down the streets of MTL in the rain, letting this adventure called life carry us around the city.. spreading music, dance and simply fun times…*sigh

Now back in Toronto, WB is preparing for our EP release party on Canada Day (July 1st, 2010) at The Rivoli. There is still some work to be done before then but I am so excited to see everyone there showing love and support.

Montreal I love you, and I shall be back 😛

WraBeanz & Twin Peaks Canada Day EP Release!!

So the date is approaching. ‘Everything Looks Better in White & Black ‘ (prod. by Muneshine) has been set to be released on Canada Day (July 1st to all you foreign people)!

WraBeanz will be at the Rivoli (332 Queen St. West) in Toronto, teaming up with rap duo Twin Peaks (Ghettosocks & Muneshine), to celebreate the release of both groups’ new EPs. This will be the first stop on the Twin Peaks  ‘Perfect Strangers’ tour (which will be bringing the guys around Canada, Europe & possibly Asia). AHHHH CRAZY TIMES!

We also have performances by Timbuktu and D-Sisive, with DJs iRate and BiggBix spinnin’ ALLLL NIGHT LONG!

The bottles are empty…

…and May 2-4 is officially over! Now it’s back to work (for me, cici), back to Montreal (for rolz), and back to school/work(for beanzz), which is a total bummer! Good news: we go back with some pretty good memories.
Dropping Knowledge: T.O. Edition at Rancho Relaxo on the 22nd was extremely successful, with performances by the extended family (Knick Murph & Switch B), and some good friends [shouts to James Redi, Raida, Kit Knows, Irate, (Fresh) Kils, K.J., White Fro & the gang, Muneshine,Trey Leji & last but not least.. Mr. Fundament, who made the dayum thing happen..].

Now, I can’t lie.. the majority of DK was a blur for me.. but the guys assure me it really was as amazing as I think it was.

 It was simply ill chillin with the whole group again, though it never lasts long.. but don’t worry it’s summertime and CBWB is simply on the grind. We are in the process of booking shows in both Toronto and MTL, and FOREVER writing new shit (ps.. send beats to wrabeanz@gmail.com)! I promise to keep all you beautiful people posted..  Peace!
